When a fire broke out in a high-rise block in Eccles over the weekend, the sprinkler systems kicked in instantly. This stopped the fire in its tracks.
Alarms sounded as soon as the fire was detected, activating the sprinklers in the tenant’s flat, meaning the fire was contained and was suppressed until the fire service arrived.
The fire service was able to get the tenant to safety and secure the property to prevent further damage.
We took the decision to install retro-fit sprinklers in more than 1,300 homes following the Grenfell tragedy, one of the first landlords in the country to do so. This shows the wider impact of the retrofitting programme, giving tenants peace of mind about their safety.
This single situation has made the investment worthwhile.
