Did you know that people who engage in social activities tend to live longer and have a sense of purpose?

Getting involved in a community group this winter will improve your mental wellbeing, but you may find that getting involved or finding these groups is tricky.

Don’t worry, we have you covered with a list of groups in your area that you can get involved with this winter!

Salford City Council Social Clubs:

Salford City Council run a range of sessions aimed to reduce social isolation. Some sessions even teach you valuable life skills, such as their ‘Get Cooking’ sessions. Allotment For Veterans:

Are you a Veteran living in Salford? If so, why not pay a visit to the Allotment for Veterans. The Allotment for Veterans in Tindall Street was set up by ex-serviceman Vinny Neild last year to give other veterans a special place in the community to find a new lease of life.

The group have begun extending the allotment to be available to the wider community with local youth services now working with the group to run sessions to teach young people valuable life skills.

Phoenix Social Group:

Phoenix social group provides a space for members of the community to come together to take part in a regular bingo night. The group is run by a tenant named Julie who volunteers her own time to run the event. If you want to find out more about the group, click here to visit their Facebook page!

Knowsley Council Social Clubs:

Knowsley Council host a series of social clubs that you can get involved in! From the Incredible Edible Knowsley Project that teaches young people about growing plants to the Swanside Community Centre that has activities for all ages. Fitton Hill Bulldogs Open Age Football:

If you fancy a kickabout, Fitton Hill Bulldogs have you covered with their open age football sessions that take place every Monday 8pm-9pm. There’s no need to book a slot, just simply show up at the Hathershaw Community Sport Centre!

Action Together

Action Together is a group based in Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside that helps connect people to what is happening in their communities.
