Free wellbeing counselling sessions for tenants

Your wellbeing is our top priority. If you are a ForHousing tenant in Salford, Oldham, Knowsley or Fylde facing a problem and feel you have no-one to talk to about it or are in need of emotional support, you can now access free counselling sessions as part of our Live Well fund for tenants.

The counselling sessions are with Talk Listen Change (TLC) where you will have the option to select whether you would like to have a counselling session over the phone or an online video call.

Talk Listen Change have over 18 counsellors that specialise in tackling issues that include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Trauma, including loss, grief, and domestic abuse
  • Identity, including sexual, spiritual and religious identity
  • Acute and chronic illnesses
  • Relationship and family problems

The work of the counsellors is not limited to these areas. You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong but if you are feeling unhappy or unsatisfied in life, counselling can help. TLC will work to find the best person to support you following your initial consultation.

We know that taking the first step towards getting support can be tough and you may feel nervous to refer yourself for counselling sessions, here’s what you can expect:

  • An introduction appointment
  • You will see the same person each week other than your initial appointment
  • Sessions will be booked at the same time, once per week
  • Your session/s will last 50 minutes

You may benefit from counselling if:

  • Things are getting on top of you, and affecting your wellbeing, for example, causing depression, anxiety or stress
  • You find it hard to talk to friends or family about your mental wellbeing
  • Your day-to-day life is impacted by your mental wellbeing and it’s having a negative effect on your relationships
  • Something traumatic has happened and you are finding it difficult to process your emotions
