Be Proud Awards – introducing the winners of the Young Person Award!

There are so many young people making an important difference within our communities that may not get the recognition that they deserve! As part of the Be Proud Awards, the Young Person Award recognises all the hard work that the younger generations are doing to make their communities a better place.

In Stockbridge Village, the winners of the Young Person Award are Daniel and Jack Anakin!

The pair have been members of The Little Woods of Stockbridge Junior Rangers for almost 10 years with them contributing to committee meetings and running events for the community. They also dedicate their Sundays to maintaining the local woodland area, working for up to four hours at a time.

The young boys are always first to volunteer to tidy the woods if there is any damage as they pick litter and remove graffiti to keep it a clean and welcoming place for the wider community.

In Fitton Hill, the winner of the Young Person Award is Ellie Smith!

Ellie has been attending the Hangout Youth Club since April where she has come out of her shell, gained confidence to get involved in the community and make a difference where she lives. Ellie has thrived since joining the Hangout Club with her running a games event in front of over 60 people, which wouldn’t have been possible for her before joining.

Since helping at the youth club, she has gone on to start her level 3 qualification in early years and education. We wish Ellie the best of luck in her studies.

In Salford, the winner of the Young Person Award is Sasha Carter!

Sasha volunteers regularly at her local community centre and she has also volunteered her time this summer to help support our Play Streets sessions, attending every single one.

After being diagnosed with being on the autistic spectrum, Sasha can find some social situations challenging. Despite this, Sasha dedicated all her time and energy and engaged with all the children and made sure they were all well fed by ensuring that they all ate their healthy lunch.
