Clifton Community Fun Day Thursday 1 June – Free for all to join!

The Keeping Clifton Clean partnership are delighted to be delivering a community fun day in Clifton Green, Salford on Thursday 1st of June 2023.

Made up of local land owners, businesses, housing associations and volunteer groups, the Keeping Clifton Clean partnership is committed to tackling the litter and fly-tipping issues across the Clifton area through joint working, funding and education.

Kindly hosted at St.Thomas Church, Delamere Avenue, Clifton, M27 8GL, the event will form part of ForHousing Play Streets programme running from 10am to 2pm and will see various organisations offering fun and educational activities and providing information on their work in the local area. There will be flower pot arranging, storytelling, sports workshops, face painting and the chance to join the local forest rangers and volunteers on a guided walk and litter pick of the nearby woodland.

Taking place during national Volunteer’s Week, there will be opportunities on the day to sign up as a volunteer with various organisations, to help take better care of the local area going forward.

The community fun day will be free for all, and is perfect for families looking for something to entertain and educate the kids during half term, and locals interested in learning more about what’s going on in their community and how they can help.

In attendance will be Salford’s City Mayor Paul Dennett and the city’s MP, Rebecca Long-Bailey. They are looking forward to joining in with activities and hearing from the local community about their experiences of littering and fly tipping and ideas for potential solutions. The Keeping Clifton Clean partnership hopes the event will not only be a fun day out for everyone, but also raise awareness of some of the issues in the area, build community spirit, and encourage people to make a positive difference in the area going forward.

Taking place during national Volunteer’s Week, there will be opportunities on the day to sign up as a volunteer with various organisations, to help take better care of the local area going forward. You can sign up as a Salford Litter Hero here.
