This week, Mark Lowe is chatting with Councillor Mike McCusker, Councillor for Eccles and Lead Member for Planning, Transport and Sustainable Development at Salford City Council.

What’s this episode about?

Mike talks about the five-year environment plan, launched in March 2019 during the second Greater Manchester Green Summit. He touches on the role of a local government in driving sustainable development and the importance of involving communities in such initiatives.

He also discusses a climate emergency with Salford City Council and what measures have been taken to fight the environmental crisis in Salford. The plan is set out under a few themes such as transport and energy supply, homes, workplaces, and public buildings.
