Be Proud Awards – introducing the winners of the Greatest Group Award!

Within our communities, there are so many great groups that are working hard to support the people in them. As part of the Be Proud Awards, the Greatest Group Award celebrates the positive impact these groups have.

The winner of the Greatest Group Award in Salford is Allotment for Veterans.

The Allotment for Veterans was formed at the beginning of this year to give space for ex-veterans to take a break and improve their wellbeing.

The group have begun extending the allotment to be available to the wider community with local youth services now working with the group to run sessions to teach young people valuable life skills.

The winner of the Greatest Group Award in Stockbridge Village is Flourish & Succeed.

Flourish & Succeed helps all ages in the community by delivering food parcels, sharing wellness advice on social media and helping people overcome addictions. One member of the group has said that the list of help they offer is endless.

The group allows a place for members of the community to go to feel safe and to grow as a person, with one member saying it is the best group that they have ever joined with them now even volunteering at the group.

The winner of the Greatest Group Award in Fitton Hill is the Fitton Hill Junior Youth Club!

Founded by Janine Conway 21 years ago, the club is run entirely by volunteers, and they have 30-40 young people in attendance weekly.

Even though the group is aimed at ages 8-13 years old, the children can become a junior volunteer so they can still be a part of the club!

Congratulations to all of the winners! Tomorrow we will be sharing the details of the winners for the Young People award.
