We understand that it can feel overwhelming to keep on top of your energy bills, especially as the price of fuel increases.
To help, the government is providing a £400 non-repayable discount to eligible households. The ‘Energy Bills Support Scheme’ works as an automatic discount to all eligible households.
This means you don’t need to apply for the discount or contact your energy supplier directly – it will be applied to your monthly electricity bill for six months starting this October. So if you receive a message asking for your bank details, this can be a scam. To report it, please click here.
You will receive £66 in October and November, and £67 in December, January, February, and March. If you pay for energy quarterly or use a payment card, you’ll still get the discount every month. Households that use traditional prepayment meters will be able to get equivalent vouchers and redeem them – click here to find out more.
If you’re a direct debit customer, you’ll receive the discount automatically as a reduction to the set monthly amount, or as a refund to your bank account, after the monthly direct debit collection.
To find out more on how you’ll receive the support when using a different payment method, visit the government’s website . You can also learn about other help that’s available on there too.
