Bringing comfort and joy to dogs and their owners this Christmas!

Carole Duck from Little Hulton, is bringing comfort and joy to dogs and their owners this Christmas after receiving a grant from our Do Your Own Thing project.

Carole, who beat cancer 10 years ago, is the creator of the Duxenall forever dog bed – the only flat-pack dog bed on the market. The handmade dog beds are self-assembly, don’t require tools and have a handy storage bag, making them ideal for pet owners who want to take their companions on holiday. Carole had the idea for the dog beds after her own dog would chew up his beds as a puppy.

Using financial support and advice from the Enterprise and Innovation Lead at ForHousing, Eric McBean and the team at Do Your Own Thing, Carole was able to kickstart the project by bulk buying the materials that she needed.

Speaking about Eric, she said, “He was so knowledgeable and supportive,” says Carole. “He gave me confidence to give it a try. I had bowel cancer 10 years ago so developing my own business has given me a real sense of purpose for the future.”

In September this year, Carole had a pop-up stall in John Lewis which helped promote the business further.
