Be Proud Awards – introducing the winners of the Steve Sheridan (Volunteer) Award!

There are so many unsung heroes in our communities that volunteer their time to help others. As part of the Be Proud Awards, the Steve Sheridan (Volunteer) award recognises all the hard work that all volunteers do from the goodness of their heart!

The winner of the Steve Sheridan (Volunteer) award in Salford is Audrey Mellor.

Audrey is 98 years old, and she is still helping at her local church running a stall at the church fairs!

The winner of the Steve Sheridan (Volunteer) award in Stockbridge Village is Julie Stephens.

Julie volunteers her spare time to run the Phoenix social group which provides a space for members of the community to come together to take part in a regular bingo night. She has been described as a credit to Stockbridge Village as she keeps everyone laughing all the time!

The winner of the Steve Sheridan (Volunteer) award in Fitton Hill is Derek McDonald.

Derek started running his own community football sessions to now taking charge of a full football club for various ages to enjoy. The club is now connected to the FA which allows Derek to fully commit himself to the club and the adults/children of the community.

Tomorrow, we will be sharing details of the winners of the Greatest Group award which will share the stories of the groups who have come together to make a great impact on their community through their dedication and willpower!
