The Sustainability Standard for Social Housing and achieving Net Zero in the housing sector, with Brendan Sarsfield

Another week, another episode of the Future Matters podcast is live!

This time, Mark Lowe is joined by Brendan Sarsfield, Chair of Sustainability for Housing Board, and a former CEO of Peabody. In his role, Brendan oversees the implementation of the Sustainability Reporting Standard (SRS).

Brenan is extremely passionate about making rent affordable, and in his previous role was focused on converting market rent homes into social rent, making them accessible to people on council waiting lists.

Between 2013 to 2015, Brendan also chaired the G15 group of London’s largest housing association.

In this episode Brendan shares his journey of getting into the sustainability sector. We also chat about the SRS, and how he feels this framework will revolutionise the social housing industry.

Of course, we dive into what the housing sector can do to meet zero-carbon emission targets too.

If you enjoyed listening to this week’s episode, please give it a thumbs up whatever platform you use to listen. Your support means a lot to us and helps to spread the word so we can help as many people as possible.

Next week we’re sitting down with Erik Bichard, Director of RealWorth – so don’t forget to tune back in, every Thursday. We’ll see you there!
