Six ways to save energy this winter

With the colder days coming, our electricity and heating bills may increase especially with the current cost of living crisis.

If you’re planning on saving energy, now is the best time to start! By implementing little changes to everyday life, we’re not only helping the planet but saving money on our energy bills.

Here’s our top tips to help you reduce your energy usage and save money:

Don’t forget to turn the heating off before opening windows as this is how heat can escape your home!

Turning off your appliances by the switch or unplugging when they’re not in use can save you at least £120 a year!

Did you know that you can lose up to 10% of heat from your windows? Keep your curtains closed to keep the heat in.

Boiling water for cooking in your kettle can help reduce the amount of energy that you use significantly.

Use energy efficient light bulbs and switch the lights off when not in use.

Use a drying rack to air dry your clothes instead of a tumble dryer as your clothes will dry naturally, reducing the amount of energy that you use!

Looking after your energy usage can be fun and environmentally friendly too. That’s why we encourage you to keep our handy energy efficient tips in mind so you can save all year round.

Don’t forget that your household may be eligible for the government’s Energy Bills Support Scheme starting this October and running up until March 2023.
