Working together to prevent homelessness – Veterans

You may have seen that we have recently supported the veterans allottment project in Eccles that has improved the wellbeing of retired veterans. But did you know we also support veterans who are at risk of becoming homeless?

A large proportion of people from the armed services end up living on the streets. We’ve signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant to make sure members of the armed forces community have the same access to opportunities, support and services as everyone else.

Recently, we supported army veteran, Dennis,to find a home. Dennis was made homeless by his previous landlord and after discussing with him what his needs were, we were able to provide him with a home at one of our sheltered schemes.

Dennis said the support has been invaluable. “The security of a life-time tenancy has made a massive difference to my life! I absolutely love my flat and I intend to stay here for a very long time.”
