Investing in social rent homes in Salford

Delivering safe, well-maintained, efficient, accessible and quality homes where tenants can thrive is vital. That’s why we’re investing £13 million on four new housing development schemes across Salford.

The safe and affordable homes will be coming to Eccles, Irlam, Swinton, and Little Hulton this summer and all 74 new homes will be built for social rent.

As 1.2 million households in the UK are on waiting lists for a social home, the schemes will be offered at low-cost social rent, positively impacting the lives of social housing tenants in the Salford area.

The works on the homes at Dudley Street in Eccles are planned to begin in June 2023 and expected to complete in summer 2024. The scheme is made up of 15 one bedroom and three two bedroom homes.

In Swinton on the site of the old White Lion, 18 homes will be built consisting of 13 one bedroom and five two bedroom homes. Construction is due to start on site in August 2023 and is expected to be completed in summer 2024.

Allotment Road in Irlam will showcase 20 new homes made up from 10 one bedroom and 10 two bedroom homes. This scheme will complete in August 2024 with works starting this August.

18 new homes will be built at Mayfield Avenue in Little Hulton which will also be complete in Summer 2024. The scheme will sit 12 one bedroom and six two bedroom homes.

We’ve secured a £5,780,000 grant to build in total 74 homes that are affordable and fit for the future. The homes, which include two-bedroom apartments, one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes, have received external funding from Homes England.

We continue to work closely with Salford City Council to identify the needs for social housing in the area, and these new developments are part of our commitment to providing more new high quality, energy efficient homes that meet current and future housing need.
