School Links - Alternative training (13-16 years) Salford & Knowsley

Giving young people the skills confidence and experience to get ahead.

  • Practical experience
  • Accredited academic training
  • A safe learning environment
  • Transitional support as they move into employment or apprenticeships

Not every student thrives in a classroom, or in traditional education. That’s why we offer a range of multitrade courses which allow students to gain construction skills alongside academic study, giving them a space to grow and learn that works for them.

Students can learn theoretical and practical skills, gaining important experience in plastering, tiling, bricklaying and joinery.

Our staff are experienced assessors with teaching (PTLS, A1) and industry specific experience and qualifications. We want to help people become the best they can be; in our safe and positive working environment we support young people to achieve their full potential.

Our friendly team can transform students into successful and skilled individuals so they are ready for the world of work. We’ll teach them to stand on their own two feet, make memories to last a lifetime and set them on the right path for a brighter future.

The qualifications gained range from Entry Level 3 up to BTEC Level 2 First Award in multi-craft construction, which contributes towards Progress 8 points.

We know how important it is to tailor training to the individual and help set them on a path that’s right for their needs. All students will receive academic (BKSB) assessments as part of their induction.

Pupils will also receive functional skills tuition, such as English and Maths, for up to 3 hours a day. We’ll work with them to support their transition into apprenticeships, further education, training and employment.

Since starting my apprenticeship, my confidence and independence has really grown. Sticking to my work hours and being in college has helped me improve my time keeping skills and I’m really enjoying learning my trade. It’s nice to be earning money now as well which allows me to buy tools and clothes. – Brogan Gillard

At ForHousing we have unrivalled access to apprenticeship and work placement opportunities. Alongside group member Liberty, the go-to people for property services, we offer a unique access to a range of career opportunities for our students, achieving excellent outcomes for those who are not in education, employment or training.

  • Apprenticeship opportunities in every trade (6 placed since last September)
  • Real work on and off site and community projects (planters, benches, mosaics)
