School Links – Salford & Knowsley

Alternative training (13-16 years)

Giving young people living in Salford & Knowsley the skills, confidence, and experience to get ahead.

  • Practical experience
  • Accredited academic training
  • A safe learning environment
  • Support to make the move from school to a job or apprenticeship

Not everyone thrives in a classroom, or in traditional education. That’s why we offer a range of multitrade courses which allow students to get construction skills as well as traditional study, giving people a space to grow and learn in a way that works for the individual.

Students can learn theoretical and practical skills, gaining important experience in plastering, tiling, bricklaying and joinery.

Our staff are experienced assessors with teaching (PTLS, A1) and industry specific experience and qualifications. We want to help people become the best they can be; in our safe and positive working environment we support young people to achieve their full potential.

Our friendly team can transform students into successful and skilled individuals so they are ready for the world of work. We’ll teach them to stand on their own two feet, make memories to last a lifetime and set them on the right path for a brighter future.

The qualifications gained range from Entry Level 3 up to BTEC Level 2 First Award in multi-craft construction, which contributes towards Progress 8 points.

We know how important it is to tailor training to the individual and help set them on a path that’s right for their needs. All students will receive academic (BKSB) assessments as part of their induction.

Pupils will also receive functional skills tuition, such as English and Maths, for up to 3 hours a day. We’ll work with them to support their transition into apprenticeships, further education, training and employment.

At ForHousing we have unrivalled access to apprenticeship and work placement opportunities. Alongside group member Liberty, the go-to people for property services, we offer a unique access to a range of career opportunities for our students, achieving excellent outcomes for those who are not in education, employment or training.

  • Apprenticeship opportunities in every trade
  • Real work on and off site and community projects (planters, benches, mosaics)
