External improvements include replacing the boundary fencing, installation of brick pillars and metal railings, brick planters and improved courtyard facilities (secure parking / gated fob-access, footpaths, CCTV and bin stores) and improvements to communal entrances to the blocks.
Other improvements include handset installation for the new door entry system, TV aerial upgrades, window and door replacement.
The new build programme to areas within blocks 7, 8 & 9 has now started.
Please be mindful of parking surrounding these areas as it will be limited due to accessibility to the site.
Foundations have also began along with sub structure brickwork being installed on block 7.
These have been created for your use whilst the works to the courtyard areas are progressing. These temporary bin stores are still fully accessible and we appreciate your cooperation in using these until the courtyard areas are reopened along with your new bin stores. Please keep a lookout for further communications on this.

Your safety
Whilst working in your community it is paramount that we keep you and your home safe.
However, construction sites remain dangerous places and some hazards may not always be obvious. It’s important you play your part in keeping you and your neighbourhood safe whilst work is taking place.
Scaffolding on site are a safety system, used by construction professionals, to allow safe access to work areas. It is vital that no one with unauthorised access attempts to climb the scaffolding as falling from this height can cause serious injury.
We’d also like to remind you to please keep the scaffolding clear of any obstructions such as banners and decorations. Security cameras are installed throughout the site and are recording 24 hours a day, but if you are concerned about any hazards on site, please contact 0161 605 7671.
What can I do now?
Works to improve your gardens is now underway across the blocks. In preparation for these works, we would kindly request that your garden is cleared of all items (any garden furniture, sheds or equipment)
It is important that you allow access to your home for the works to be carried out as part of the Sutton Way programme.
Your tenant liaison officer at Liberty will carry out a pre entry survey with you and discuss any preparation that is needed ahead of works starting. This survey also allows you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have, so we would kindly encourage that you allow access for this survey to be carried out as early as possible.
Looking after your community
It’s important that we all play our part in looking after the community and making it the best it can be.
We have continued to experience a considerable increase in fly tipping and inappropriate disposal of waste around the areas we are working within.
Not only is this unsightly but it encourages further tipping and attracts vermin. Over the last year over £30k has been spent on clearing fly tipping, money that could have been used to improve communities in other ways. We continue to work with the Cheshire West and Chester Council’s waste team to promote good recycling practice in the area.
We continue to work closely with the Council’s Regulatory Services and Community Safety Teams to take appropriate action against individuals in these circumstances.

Royal Horticultural Society Community Wellbeing Grant
We are delighted to say that our community engagement partner, We Make Places CIC, has been successful in winning some funding from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) which is aimed at improving community wellbeing through the creation of shared greenspaces.
This initial pot of funding will be used to create the first shared garden space between blocks 4 and 6 on Sutton Way and to develop an outline of how the other greenspaces in Sutton Way could be developed in the future, if further funding was secured.
Landscape architect Elaine Cresswell from Re:Shaped will be working with residents to co design the space, agree what type of planting will work and teach you about maintenance of the plants. It will also cover soil and planting costs and potentially some of the other materials needed for the space, including some time for the Urban Workbench project to return and support those of you who want to learn basic joinery skills and help create some items for the space.
Some of you met with We Make Places and a representative from the RHS who was really impressed with the enthusiasm of the residents they met and the potential for these green spaces. It’s thanks to your passion that we were invited to apply for this Community Wellbeing Grant and we’d love to get more residents involved.
How to get involved:
• Tell your housing officer to add you to our list of green space champions
• Text GREENSPACE to 07984 358 474
• Email suttonway@wemakeplaces.org
Sessions will be run by We Make Places and Elaine Cresswell from ReShaped – a sustainable people centred landscape architecture practice who we have worked with on a number of projects in the North West, including the sensory square garden at the Cheshire Oaks Coliseum
Sutton Way block naming project
Now work is completing on Blocks 3 and 5, we are looking towards the future of Sutton Way and developing the new names and signage for the blocks is a big part of this.
Tying in with the work that happened in the local history project and working with Brookside Primary School, we have chosen 3 potential themes.
We want you to vote for your preferred theme and then for a small group of interested residents to attend a workshop to discuss and help co-design the signage solutions and names for Blocks 3 and 5.
We hope as many of you as possible will get involved in choosing these themes. Giving each block a name will really help with the identity of the neighbourhood – not to mention the improvement to delivery services and giving directions to your home!
The 3 themes we are considering are:
