Ellesmere Port residents settle into 16 brand new ForHousing homes

Providing much-needed new homes, the two-bedroom new builds have been designed for families of up to four and are available for affordable rent.

They were built by Vistry Partnerships for Cheshire West and Chester Council as part of a wider development of more than 100 properties for rent and sale.

ForHousing became the landlord of the 16 new homes after taking on a 20-year lease.

Tenant and mother-of-one Kellie Totman was one of the first to move in after previously living in a one-bedroom flat. She is looking forward to her first Christmas there with her eight-month-old son.

She said: “This place means the world to me. Being here is going to give us so many more opportunities, especially for Callum – I know it’s his forever home.

“Here I’ll be able to have Callum’s birthday parties, have his friends round to play, do sleepovers – the little things you can’t do in a flat.”

Her new home also means she is much closer to her parents.

Kellie said: “I’m now five minutes from my dad, 10 minutes from my mum, and we see them all the time. I’m really close to my family and I can picture Callum playing football with his grandad in the garden already.

“I feel like I’ve waited my whole life for this, and I just want to say a massive thank you to my family and ForHousing for helping me move somewhere where Callum can grow up and thrive.”

Janet Lawton, Head of Housing Management Contract at ForHousing: “It’s wonderful to see Kellie and her neighbours enjoying life in their new homes – we know that a good quality home provides the foundation for a brighter future.

“The support we offer at ForHousing around budgeting and other life skills can help new tenants at Rivacre, some of whom were previously homeless, become more confident looking after their new home.

“Up and down the country demand for affordable homes is outstripping supply. We’re really pleased to be working in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council to build greatly needed new homes like these that make more things possible for more people.”

Last year Cheshire West and Chester Council celebrated five years of partnership working with the progressive landlord with a party and time capsule at the Bridge Wellness Gardens.
