Northern Housing Awards - Winners

We were proud to have won two awards at the Northern Housing Awards Ceremony.

Tenant of the Year

We were so thrilled for tenant Stephanie Tomlinson who was awarded Tenant of the Year for her involvement within the community at Stockbridge Village.

Stephanie got involved in improving the community when she read her tenancy sign-up pack about how to get involved and she quickly became a member of our tenants’ forum.

She then went on to join the scrutiny panel and has contributed to other methods of involvement. Stephanie is passionate about wanting to make Stockbridge Village a vibrant, community where people want to live. Stephanie gives tenants a voice and challenges us to continue to improve to deliver excellent services. Thank you for your continued passion and involvement to improve lives.

If Stephanie’s story has inspired you to get involved then you can sign up here.

Best Initiative Tackling Homelessness

ForHousing has won the Best Initiative Tackling Homelessness award for the development in Salford which has turned three derelict sites into new homes.

The one bedroom apartments include tailored support packages to help tenants get back on track with their lives. Each tenant is allocated a dedicated support worker who works with them to access training and employment opportunities, address any health and wellbeing issues and create a pathway to a better life.

Once tenants are ready, they are supported to move on to a more permanent home, and another person can then be helped to turn their life around.

Since the first homes were completed, tenants have started learning programmes linked to employment and a number have already found full time jobs.

ForHousing worked closely with Salford City Council to identify those people most in need of the homes and associated support.

The apartments are offered at a low sub-social rent, which includes all service charges, bills and wifi, and they are furnished and include white goods so that tenants can move straight in to begin rebuilding their lives.
