Hi, I’m Kelly, and I manage our Extra Care team. We support tenants to live independently in their own homes, while having the right care and support close by when it’s needed.
We know that staying independent as needs change isn’t always easy. It can feel uncertain, especially if you need more support with everyday life or your health.
Our role is to help make things feel more manageable — so you feel safe, supported and able to continue living in your own home.
Every day, we work closely with care teams, partners and local services to make sure support is joined up and available when you need it, so you’re not facing things on your own.
Over the past year, we’ve supported tenants across our Extra Care schemes to live well and stay independent, with support shaped around each tenant.
We’ve:
1
Delivered 421 tailored activities, helping tenants stay active, social and connected
2
Completed 364 weekly inspections, helping create safe and well-maintained environments where tenants can feel secure.
3
Carried out 1329 emergency alarm system checks, helping ensure support is available quickly when it’s needed most.
4
Ensured 88% of tenants had an annual review / visit in the last 12 months, helping make sure support continues to reflect individual needs and circumstances.
Alongside this, we’ve continued to provide a safe, accessible home with 24/7 care and support available. We also provide activities such as coffee mornings that help reduce loneliness and isolation, while encouraging people to stay active and connected.
Some of this support is what you’ll see day to day, like help with wellbeing, activities or settling into your home. Some of it happens behind the scenes, like working closely with health teams and partners to make sure everything is in place.
A big part of this work is supporting people to feel confident and secure in their own home.
Through Extra Care, tenants can keep their independence while knowing support is there when they need it. Whether it’s staying socially connected, managing health and wellbeing, or feeling safe at home, we’re there at the right time.
We’ve seen how the right support can help build confidence, stay independent for longer, and feel part of a community. One tenant shared: “I love living here. The onsite staff help with everything I need, and the carers are great too. I feel safe and supported.”
I’m really proud of the difference this service is making.
We’ll keep working closely with our partners, listening to feedback, and building on what works well.
That means continuing to provide high-quality homes, meaningful activities, and the right support, so more tenants can live independently and feel at home in their communities.
