Stay safe at your door – always check who’s calling

We want to keep you safe in your home. Unfortunately, from time to time, people may knock on doors pretending to work for ForHousing or partners we work with. They may try to persuade you to sign something, let them in, or share personal information — and it can be hard to tell the difference between a genuine visit and a bogus one.

Our new video shows two real-life scenarios that could happen at any home, an unsafe way and a safe way.

The unsafe way may be when people turn up unannounced claiming to work with us. They may pressure you to sign something unnecessary, risking extra costs and delays to essential repairs. They appear confident, persuasive and in a hurry. This is a reminder that if a caller can’t prove who they are, you should never feel pressured to sign anything or let them into your home.

The safe way shows what happens when it’s a genuine ForHousing colleaugue or trusted partner. They will always show their ID straight away and encourage the tenant to check their identity by calling our Customer Connect Hub team directly. They will always be patient, supportive and happy for you to confirm who they are before you let them in.

Your safety comes first

If someone knocks on your door claiming to be from ForHousing:

· Always ask for ID

· Take your time — a genuine caller will never rush you

· Call us to check if you’re unsure

· Never sign anything on the spot unless you feel completely confident

· If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts. Close the door and contact us.

Don’t forget, if you’re ever unhappy with a service you’ve received from us, please tell us — we’re here to help and keep you safe. You can find out more about disrepair here: Disrepair claims – ForHousing
