Stay connected this christmas

Christmas can be a time of celebration – but for some of us, it can feel lonely, stressful, or even overwhelming. If you’re feeling lonely, or just want to get out and meet new people, there are plenty of things happening in your local community to get involved with.

We’ve brought together a directory of local community events and volunteering opportunities, as well as information to support your wellbeing this festive season.

Give the gift of time

Volunteering or joining local events can bring a sense of purpose, help you meet new people, and spread kindness when it’s needed most. Even a small act – sharing a meal, wrapping gifts, or making a friendly phone call – can brighten someone’s day (including yours!) You can find a list of volunteering opportunities and events below:

Here for you – Financial support

Are you struggling with debts such as gas and electric or loans and catalogues and you don’t know how you’re going to deal with it?

If you are struggling, we want you to know you are not alone.

Our Money Advice and Income Team are here to help you make the most of your income. We can provide:

  • Budgeting and debt advice
  • Help accessing benefits and grants
  • Support with Universal Credit or Housing Benefit
  • Guidance on affordable payment plans

We also have additional funding available to help you with a short-term need that you can’t afford, through our Live Well fund.

Just visit our Money Support page for more information on all the support we have available to help you this Christmas.
