The evacuation strategy for Southway is ‘Stay Safe.’ You may also hear this called a ‘Stay Put’ policy.

Southway is designed that should a fire occur; it is safe to stay in your flat. However, if your flat is affected by fire or you feel unsafe due to a fire somewhere else in the building, you will need to evacuate if it is safe to do so

The ‘stay safe’ policy does not apply to the communal lounge and kitchen area and in the event of the alarm sounding within this space, we ask that you leave this area via the nearest emergency exit, use the staircase to exit the block and you do not try to return to your flat until you are told it is safe to do so by the Fire Service
