We recently worked alongside tenants, just like you, to scrutinise and review our noise nuisance services as part of a Scrutiny exercise.
A Scrutiny exercise is when a group of tenants get together to investigate a specific service, to understand what we currently do, take away findings from tenant experiences and key information to make recommendations for improvements. We will then work together to put things in place to act upon your feedback. Listening and learning from you, to make positive changes.
This exercise was influenced by a recent Housing Ombudsman spotlight report on handling noise nuisance, where they made a series of recommendations for the housing sector. Our Community Safety Team asked Scrutiny to look at this report and scrutinise our approach to noise nuisance against these recommendations to check that we are providing a service.
Our Scrutiny noise nuisance exercise included 6 tenants who are a part of our tenant Scrutiny group to investigate and look at:
- Policies and procedures about noise nuisance and tenancy management
- A summary of noise nuisance reports
- Noise nuisance complaints
- Performance data we collect on your satisfaction with how we handle noise nuisance
- Documents about managing noise nuisance such as incident diaries
- Information from other organisations
Scrutiny had four key findings and made four recommendations following the exercise. To find out how we have listened, and learned and acted upon your feedback, click here.
By listening and learning and acting upon your recommendations you have influenced the way we do things – helping us to continue to put tenants at the heart of decision making. To learn more about what Scrutiny click here.
