Housing Perks, a free discount app, has launched a new feature that is available to tenants and lets you pay money towards rent using the mobile app.
The app is available to be used as it usually would to buy vouchers and save money. The savings you make by purchasing the voucher can be put towards your rent balance.
Tenants who use the feature use the discount to pay toward their rent account, helping you build an additional rent-free week or reduce arrears whilst you do your usual shop. The discount will vary depending on the retailer’s current offer.
How it works – step by step
- Sign up or log in to the Housing Perks App
- Select the retailer you would like from the list
- Enter how much you would like to have on the voucher, for example £100
- If the discount is 10%, you will be asked to pay £90 for the voucher. If you have rent contributions turned on, you will pay £100 and the saving of £10 will be paid towards your rent
- A few seconds after purchasing the voucher will be available in your wallet
- You can use their voucher to pay for full or partial payment online or in store at the retailer
How you use the rent feature
If you already have the app, it’s quick and easy. Tenants can switch on the automatic rent contributions feature by:
- Opening the Housing Perks app
- Clicking on the rent section in the menu
- Switch on rent contributions
Every time you buy a voucher, the savings they make will automatically be used as a contribution towards your rent. If you change your mind, it is very simple to switch off.
If you are not yet signed up, you will need to:
- Download the Housing Perks app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store
- Press “Sign up”, enter their details and follow the on-screen instructions
- Tenants will need their tenancy reference number, that can be found on letters you have received from us. You can also request it by using Live Chat that can be found in the right-hand corner of the homepage of the website or by calling 0300 123 5522
