Works due to start at £14.5 million redevelopment of Adelphi Lads Club

ForHousing are soon to start on site at Cannon Street, transforming the historic Adelphi Lads Club building into 63 new homes for social rent.

Due for completion in Autumn 2026, the club is set to be redeveloped into 39 one-bedroom and 24 two-bedroom flats, with the project valued at £14.5 million. External funding of £6.3 million was secured from Homes England.

The design includes EV chargers and solar panels to offset electricity usage, which will minimise the environmental impact of the building and keep energy costs low for residents while meeting the Future Homes Standards.

Light gauge steel frame from Intrastack, which is category 2 MMC, will also be used to streamline the construction process and minimise on-site disruptions.

ForHousing is committed to delivering social value initiatives as part of the scheme, including on site apprentices, materials and financial contributions to local community groups, and 20% local labour on site.

To honour the site’s history, a commemorative plaque donated by Councillor Jane Hamilton will be featured next to the main entrance.

Beluga Group is working with ForHousing as the site developer and Niemen Architects providing the post-contract planning and scheme design which prioritises sustainability and energy efficiency.
