Working in partnership, we’re continuing to work hard to build safe, affordable and well maintained homes for the future.
The completion of 51 new affordable homes on Edison Road has delivered energy-efficient homes for social rent, creating modern and stable living spaces for families and individuals. The £10 million scheme is designed to enhance the quality of life for residents in Eccles and deliver much needed affordable homes in the area.
We’ve also successfully completed a £1.2 million scheme providing six new homes for people at risk of homelessness. This project, part of the government’s Rough Sleeping Accommodation Programme, offers self-contained apartments alongside personalised support to help tenants rebuild their lives. Built using innovative timber frame construction method, these fully electric homes are equipped with hot water cylinders and electric vehicle charging points. These homes reflect our commitment to innovation, tackling homelessness and environmental sustainability.
Councillor Tracy Kelly, Deputy City Mayor and Lead Member for Housing and Anti-Poverty at Salford City Council, said:
“It is fantastic news that these homes are now complete and ready for people to move into. People are desperate for affordable homes and the six affordable homes will make such a huge difference to the lives of people who move into them.
“The extra element with this scheme is that the rough sleeping accommodation programme homes on the same site.
“The homes will provide a secure base and help to support people in short-term temporary accommodation to build up their independent living skills. The care and wellbeing of our residents is an absolute priority.”
Looking ahead, construction is already under way on another vital scheme at Dudley Street in Eccles, which is due to be completed in January 2025. This development will provide 18 homes for social rent, and we remain focused on creating sustainable, supportive communities and ensuring that everyone has access to a safe and affordable home.
