We’re committed to providing safe places to call home for those living with dementia

This week we’re proud to be supporting Dementia Action Week, because we are passionate about providing safe and comfortable homes for those who need a little extra support.

As the number of people living with dementia is unfortunately increasing in the UK, we believe it’s important to create a dementia-friendly society that creates more possibilities for more people.

For many people living with dementia, they can find it hard to maintain connections with loved ones as many experience memory loss, difficulty thinking and language problems – all of which are really important parts of making connections with those around us.

Music for Dementia is an amazing charity working to ensure that every person living with dementia has music as an integral part of their care, as they believe it has the power to bring people together, stimulate and enable people to express themselves creatively beyond words. Find out more about Music for Dementia on their website.

We want to play our part in making sure everyone, no matter what their needs, are supported and have all the tools to live a happy, healthy and fulfilling life.

Since launching our Wellbeing Strategy back in April last year, we've really focussed on how we can provide services and homes that have a positive impact on tenant's wellbeing, especially for those who may need extra care.

We are proud to provide a range of specialist accommodation for those living with dementia – learn more about the different facilities and support packages we can offer here.

This Dementia Awareness Week, the Alzheimer’s Society have created this powerful video showing the impact that dementia can have on everyone effected by it.

It’s not just the person that is living with dementia that feels the impact. Those who have the responsibility of caring for a loved one can often feel the effect on their health and wellbeing, especially if they can’t chat to anyone about how they’re feeling.

If you need a little bit of advice, or someone to talk to that can understand your worries, support groups like Talking Point, or Alz Connected are an invaluable resource.

We’re always here to help you look into your options if you or someone you know are thinking about moving to a new home.

If you need advice, would like to talk about your tenancy or are interested in looking into one of our specialist extra care schemes, get in touch with us today by emailing us via hello@forhousing.co.uk, or calling us for a chat on 0300 123 5522.
