Introduction
The following guide has been developed to aid you in the use of the recommended Microsoft and Google authenticator apps for the purposes of iTrent multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Once you have entered your username and password into our Onboarding portal login page, you will be presented with the ‘Secure your account’ registration screen. Please refer to the following sections on how to install the appropriate app and obtain the verification code.
Once installed, you will be required to use the authenticator app to enter the verification code at
each login.
If you don’t already have an MFA app on your mobile device, you will need to download one from the app store. We recommend the Microsoft authenticator; however, you can also use the Google authenticator.
The Microsoft and Google authenticator apps can be identified as below for installation. These apps are free to install and will not ask for any payment information to use.

Scanning the QR code
Select the bar code image within the app and point your devices camera towards the QR code.
This will scan and create an account in the authenticator app. The system name and user email
value will be shown against this account. The six-digit verification code will now be available for
input
Manual entry
If you are unable to scan the QR code, you can add an account manually by entering the key
presented on the page and following the below instructions.
1. Within the Authenticator app, select the + button
2. Select ‘Other’ followed by ‘enter code manually’:
3. We recommend changing the name to something easily identifiable, such as ForHousing Onboarding.
4. Copy and paste the key from the ‘Secure your account’ registration screen and select finish.
5. You will then be presented with the verification code to enter into the iTrent login authentication page
6. Once you have entered the code and selected continue, please ensure you save a copy of your recovery code should you need to reset your authentication details.
