Major adaptions

These are larger scale adaptations including:

  • Ramps
  • Widening of doors
  • Alterations to the level of essential kitchen work surfaces
  • Level access shower
  • Ceiling track hoist
  • Changing the layout of a room

Major adaptations can include internal and external changes to the layout of a property. This list gives examples of major adaptations; there may be others that aren't listed here.

There may also be some situations where it is appropriate to explore alternative accommodation. If you need more information, please contact us.

If you require major adaptations

Our Equipment and Adaptations Team may arrange for a survey or a feasibility study at this stage, especially if the referral is in relation to problems with access.

A member of the Occupational Therapist Service may need to undertake a further assessment of your needs and may arrange to visit you in your home before a major adaptation is agreed.
