ForHousing is a forward-thinking social organisation that positively impacts communities. We're also proud to create opportunities that make things happen - for people, families, homes and communities. We're a busy team with lots to do. We can only achieve this if we've got the right resources so we look for people and partners with as much enthusiasm and passion as we have for making things happen.
Our forfutures division works with customers to prevent them finding themselves homeless. We’ll give advice, information and signpost to the support available from appropriate partners and agencies. This will cover a range of subjects including benefits, housing issues, anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, offending, substance and alcohol misuse, mental health issues and learning disabilities as well as opportunities for learning and personal development.
We currently have an opportunity available for a Young Person’s Support Worker to join us to work alongside customers living in supported accommodation, using a person centred approach to support them in practical tasks which will help to achieve the goals and outcomes as outlined in their support plans and risk assessments.
Providing information, advice and support on their rights with regards to welfare, tenancy and money, you will work with customers to help them learn or improve their practical life skills (e.g. budgeting, paying bills) as needed to be fully independent and integrate successfully with their local community; engaging with customers on a one to one basis to support them in their journey towards accessing and maintaining independent accommodation.
Candidates for this should have an awareness of homelessness legislation and practice and experience of providing support services within a social care setting (supported housing, care, nursing, residential). With an understanding of the support needs and the issues facing our customers, a reasonable understanding of the benefit/welfare systems would be beneficial, and you must be assertive, resilient and a team player.
As well as a generous holiday entitlement, we offer a range of benefits for a rewarding career including a pension scheme and staff discount club membership. We’ll also make sure you get the training and benefits you deserve.
ForHousing is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
