Joining us as a Legal Officer, you’ll provide a comprehensive service, in respect of appropriate legal advice and defending disrepair claims, to include case management, drafting witness evidence, preparation of court documentation and representation at court. 

You’ll maintain a personal working knowledge of all relevant law, provide advice to the organisation, colleagues and members, under the direction of the Legal Service Executive.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding, working knowledge and experience of the law/legal system, including a sound understanding of the provisions of Landlord and Tenant Act, 1985, Defective Premises At 1972, Housing Act 2004, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Homes (Fitness for Habitation) Act 2018, in relation to repairing covenants and the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions Claims. 

With a good level of education, ideally A-Level, you’ll have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office, you’ll demonstrate a clear understanding of current social housing issues and will ideally hold, or are working towards an appropriate legal qualification.  You’ll have experience of court processes, good knowledge of Civil Procedures Rules, coupled with previous County Court appearances, representing clients and/or appearing as a  witness. With attention to detail and excellent written and verbal skills, you’ll have the ability to work to tight deadlines, as part of a team and unsupervised, prioritising your own workload. If you are currently working in the disrepair claim area of law or similar as a Legal Officer or paralegal this would be an ideal opportunity to progress further.
