Home health checks

We carry out home health checks to make sure homes are safe, well maintained, and in good condition now and in the future.

These checks also help us understand the condition of our homes and plan repairs and improvements over time.

What is a home health check?

It’s a simple visual check of your home, inside and outside, and usually takes around 20–30 minutes.

During the visit, we look at things like:
• Windows and doors
• Heating and hot water
• Kitchens and bathrooms
• The overall condition of your home

Will I get a home health check?

We don’t carry out home health checks at every home each year. We prioritise homes based on a range of factors to help us understand the condition of our homes across different areas.

If your home is selected, we’ll contact you directly to arrange a visit, so there’s no need to get in touch to request one.

What to expect if you're contacted

If your home is selected:
• You’ll be contacted to arrange a suitable time
• The visit will usually take around 20–30 minutes
• The check is visual only – surveyors won’t move furniture or belongings

Surveyors will always carry ID – you can ask to see this before letting them in and if you’re worried about letting anyone into your home and want to check with us first, get in touch – we’re here to help.

Important information about repairs

Home health checks are not used to report everyday repairs.

If something needs fixing, please report it as usual – don’t wait for a home health check.

What happens after my home health check visit?

You don’t need to do anything after the check.

We’ll review what we’ve found and contact you if any work is needed. We will also use the information to plan future improvements.

If everything is in good condition, we may not need to contact you.
