Harnessing lived experience: ForHousing to launch Tenant Talent Pool

ForHousing is introducing a new Tenant Talent Pool – a fast-track route into employment for tenants, designed to ensure lived experience is represented within the organisation.

The Talent Pool will open for registration on 9 February and close on 6 March. It will run twice a year, giving tenants regular opportunities to apply.

Why lived experience matters

Recruiting colleagues from our tenant community brings invaluable insight into the challenges and opportunities people face every day. This helps us design services that truly reflect the needs of the communities we serve, improve decision-making, and strengthen our commitment to inclusive employment and tenant-led services.

When tenants join our workforce, they bring a unique perspective that helps us deliver services that work in practice, not just on paper. It’s about creating stronger connections between colleagues, customers, and communities.

What is the Tenant Talent Pool?

It’s an initiative that makes it easier for ForHousing tenants who are looking for work to access sustainable careers. No previous experience is required – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

To register, tenants will need to submit a CV and cover letter, which will be reviewed as part of the shortlisting process. While registration does not guarantee selection, shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview.

When suitable vacancies arise, the highest-scoring candidates will be invited to apply first. For entry-level, admin, and apprentice roles, the top-scoring candidate will be offered the role without needing to reapply or interview again. For specialist roles, they will be offered first interviews ahead of external applicants.

Building on success

The Talent Pool builds on the achievements of our Employment Support Service, creating even more opportunities for tenants seeking employment and training. The team also works in partnership on initiatives such as Salford City Council’s trailblazer funding. One tenant, Harry, has already benefitted and is now thriving in his new role. You can read more about his journey here Harry’s experience.

We’re excited to share more success stories as the Talent Pool continues to grow!
