If you have an idea for a project that could benefit your community, funding is available for you to bring it to life.
During 2025/26, £118,115 was invested through 193 applications that were successfully approved.
So, if you’re part of a community group, school, charity, or similar organisation – we want to hear from you!
To make it fair for everyone, applicants are asked not to apply again within the same financial year if they have already received a grant. This includes applications for a different project even if the same group organises it.

What is the Community Group Grant?
Our Community Group Grant aims to support the running costs of constituted groups and Community Interest Companies within the community who deliver services or activities positively impacting tenant’s lives within ForHousing communities.
What is a constituted group?
A constituted community group is made up of people who come together to address local issues or needs, and who formalise their structure by adopting a written constitution. This constitution outlines the group’s aims, how it will be run, and how members will work together.
Criteria for Community Groups:
- Must have a written constitution
- Must hold regular meetings including an Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Must have 2 separate signatories for their bank account
- Must have less than £100,000 in available funds at the time of application
- Must clearly demonstrate benefit to communities within ForHousing neighbourhoods
- Grant funding cannot be used to cover staff salaries or rental costs for premises owned by ForHousing
What is a Community Interest Company?
A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a special type of limited company designed for social enterprises. It exists to benefit the community, rather than private shareholders, and uses its assets and profits to achieve its social objectives.
Criteria for Community Interest Companies:
- Must have a Certificate of Incorporation
- Must employ fewer than five paid staff members
- Must have less than £100,000 in available funds at the time of application
- Must clearly demonstrate benefit to communities within ForHousing neighbourhoods
How much funding can my group have and what can we spend it on?
Constituted groups and CIC’s that own or lease a premises can apply for grants up to £1,000, while those without can apply for up to £500. Organisations can apply for running costs such as laptops, public liability insurance, room hire, training, and utility bills.
How do we apply and what do we need for our application?
Please read the Criteria and Guidelines to check that you are eligible to apply.
Applications will be sent to the Community Development Team and to apply you must provide the following supporting documents:
Community Groups
- Minutes from most recent Annual General Meeting (AGM) dated within the last 12 months
- Signed copy of your Constitution dated within 3 years
- Bank statement showing bank balance dated within the last 3 months. This must show that there is less than £100,000 remaining in the bank account.
- Public liability insurance certificate
Community Interest Company
- Copy of your Certificate of Incorporation
- Copy of your Articles of Association
- Copy of your Community Interest Company Statement
- Bank statement showing bank balance dated within the last 3 months. This must show that there is less than £100,000 remaining in the bank account.
- Public liability insurance certificate
Groups and CIC’s can only apply for one Community Group Grant per financial year (April – March the following year).

Do you deliver activities in a ForHousing neighbourhood? You could be eligible for a Community Fund grant of up to £500!
The fund offers financial support to local groups so they can keep delivering services and projects in their community.

The deadline to submit your applications is the first Friday of every month. To apply you most deliver your activities in Salford, Fitton Hill or Stockbridge Village.
What do we not fund?
- Any costs spent before the grant is confirmed.
- Projects that cannot be completed within 12 months of the grant being confirmed.
- Applicants who have already received Community Fund within the same financial year. Applicants are asked not to apply again within the same financial year if they have already received a grant. This includes applications for a different project, if the same group organises it.
- Applicants who have not provided feedback for previous successful applications, including receipts if they have been requested.
- Applications which do not support ForHousing communities.

You know your community best – and we want to empower you to make changes where they’re needed.
The Local Improvement Fund is used to support small scale improvements within ForHousing communities. There is up to £3,000 available per project.
Examples include:
- Improvements to communal gardens
- Improvements to planted areas and verges
- Schemes that deter flytipping
- Improved recycling facilities
- Improvements to signage
- Measures to deter the riding of motorbikes on footpaths
- Benches
- Notice boards
