ForHousing has signed up to the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge, led by HouseProud and delivered in partnership with Stonewall Housing. The Pledge commits us to taking practical action so LGBTQ+ tenants feel safe, respected and able to be themselves in their homes and communities.
This work forms part of our involvement in the HouseProud LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge Scheme, supporting our journey towards Pledge Pioneer status.
How we’re achieving Pledge Pioneer status
As part of this commitment, ForHousing is working towards Pledge Pioneer accreditation, which recognises housing providers who demonstrate meaningful progress in listening to LGBTQ+ tenants, improving visibility and building understanding across their organisation.
We are working with Rainbow Roofs, a HouseProud supported network for LGBTQ+ tenants across the North West.
Rainbow Roofs meets every six weeks and focuses on raising the voices of LGBTQ+ tenants, addressing the issues that affect them and supporting positive change within housing services. The group exists to reduce isolation, challenge stigma and help housing providers better understand the real experiences of LGBTQ+ people.
Through Rainbow Roofs, ForHousing is:
- Actively listening to LGBTQ+ tenants and incorporating lived experience into service improvement
- Supporting visibility through partnership working with HouseProud and regional networks
- Building understanding by sharing learning, discussion and challenge across the housing sector
This work supports our wider equality, diversity and inclusion commitments and helps ensure our services reflect the needs of all tenants.
