Our Community Development team works alongside tenants and local partners to create projects that make a real difference in your communities. Across Salford, Stockbridge Village and Fitton Hill, we listen to what matters most to you, support local groups to access funding, and make sure you are at the heart of everything we do.
Over the past year, our team has:
- Developed trusted relationships with key community connectors, helping more of you get involved and have your voices heard
- Partnered with Clarion to support three groups into the Community Catalyst mentoring programme, unlocking £10,000 in funding and tailored support
- Commissioned local partners to deliver youth clubs
- Delivered free activities with meals during school holidays, supporting families and creating volunteering opportunities
- Managed three community funding streams, awarding grants and helping groups attract additional funding
- Celebrated community volunteers and achievements through our annual Be Proud Awards
Play Streets
We’re proud to deliver Play Streets sessions in partnership with local organisations across Salford, Knowsley and Oldham. These sessions provide free activities for children and families, with a free meal available for every child wherever possible.
Over the year, we:
- Delivered 552 activities
- Welcomed 1,636 unique attendances across 80 sessions
- Provided 1,636 free meals
Be Proud Awards
Our annual Be Proud Awards recognise the individuals and groups who make your communities better places to live. Each winner receives a certificate, a voucher and an invitation to our Christmas Party.
Last year, we received 140 nominations, with 17 winners selected.
Community funding
We work closely with tenants to help improve your neighbourhoods through our funding opportunities. Three funding streams are available for individuals and community groups, helping bring local ideas to life.
This year £119,000 was awarded to 174 groups and individuals with Local Food First receiving £3,500 to support their volunteer programme.

This meant he struggled to take part in school and often felt isolated. That inspired me to set up this project to help anyone in the same situation. From helping grassroots groups grow in confidence, to providing free activities, meals and safe spaces for children and families, this work shows what’s possible when communities are supported to lead.
