We are working together with Cheshire West and Chester Council in a new way to be more efficient and provide better services for you when you report issues with noise.
Inspiration
The Housing Ombudsman regularly shares good practice and we recently read a case study sharing how another Housing Provider and their Local Authority worked together on a noise nuisance case which achieved a positive outcome.
Improving communication and streamlining processes
We contacted the Council’s noise control team to discuss how to collaborate better to resolve noise issues quickly and effectively. This included exploring options for ourselves and the Environmental Health Team. We produced a flowchart showing both of our processes to share knowledge between our teams. This gave us an understanding of how we could work better together.
Positive outcome
Both services now meet on a quarterly basis to monitor the impact of the joined-up approach. This is also a great forum to bring complex cases to the table for discussion. The effect of this has already been really positive, and we’ve seen a reduction of unnecessary recordings being submitted to the Council, which has allowed them time to provide more detailed and productive assessments to us for action. This translates to a faster and more effective resolution of noise complaints for you. If you are having a problem with noise, please see our Keeping you safe page for more information on how to report this to us.
