Tom is excited about the future after his work experience at ForHousing
After gaining work experience in ForHousing’s communications team, Tom Edge is now feeling positive about his future career prospects.
Tom joined the marketing and communications team at ForHousing for eight weeks, as part of their Skills Support for Employment (SSE) scheme, which helps people get back into employment by offering work experience.
During his placement, Tom helped to monitor ForHousing’s social media channels and create content to promote services and events.
He also used his skills to help the team with using editing software for video effects and advertising, or for audio snippets or podcasts, which was something he really enjoyed doing.
Tom said: “At first, venturing into unfamiliar ground felt daunting and scary, but I was soon put at ease with like-minded colleagues and a goal to ensure that both myself and the rest of the team could learn during my time here.
“Having a keen eye for detail has always been a trait I thought was meticulous or nit-picking. But whilst I’ve been here it’s only seen me get positive results, so I could see tasks through with the detail they deserve.
“I cannot thank ForHousing enough for taking a chance with me on this placement, and I look forward to whatever lies ahead of me next. Wherever I do end up, I know that I have all of those I worked with to thank for my building confidence and trust in those around me.”
