Play Streets continues to be our free holiday provision for families, designed for children aged 5–11. Sessions are open to the wider community and delivered in partnership with Salford Community Leisure, SPARK, Safari Kids Club and Stocky Whizz Kidz alongside a wide range of committed volunteers.
Each area has it’s own sessions, shaped by community feedback and local partnerships. Whether it’s a climbing wall in Stockbridge Village or a comedy workshop in Salford, Play Streets is all about creating safe, fun, and inclusive spaces for children and families to connect.
During 2024–2025, a total of £55,246 was invested into Play Streets, with £24,161 from ForHousing and £31,085 raised through external funding. Salford Community Leisure also contributed around £7,000 to support delivery at three venues.
Across the year, 146 sessions were delivered, with 1,118 children attending and taking part 6,048 times. Every child received a healthy meal, and many experienced new activities for the first time.
Salford: 62 sessions | 408 children | 976 attendances
Stockbridge: 28 sessions | 216 children | 1,064 attendances
Fitton Hill: 56 sessions | 494 children | 4,008 attendances*

A wide range of activities
Sessions were packed with exciting and enriching experiences, including:
- Birds of prey and animal petting
- Got Talent showcases
- Bike-ability and cycling
- Multi-sports and sports days
- Arts and crafts with local artists
- Magicians, entertainers, and circus skills
- Healthy eating workshops
- Climbing wall and more!
One standout story came from Salford, where a young boy named Andrew, new to the UK and speaking little English, began the programme shy and withdrawn. Over the weeks, his confidence blossomed. He started joining in independently, making friends, and engaging with staff – a powerful reminder of the impact Play Streets can have.
