Improving wellbeing and confidence - Valerie's story
Over the last few years, Valerie’s health has deteriorated and she’s not able to get out and about as she once did.
“My health is ruling my mind,” Valerie says. “I’ve not been able to work; I walk with a walker and get down in the dumps.”
Things have improved thanks to ForHousing’s intervention and in particular support from Tenancy Sustainment Officer, Steph and Neighbourhood Officer, Jack.
“ForHousing are really accommodating. I don’t have to wait too long. They’ve always done what I requested.”
That support has included sorting out her bedroom tax, a fridge freezer, a bed and a wet room making life easier all round. There’s the social and wellbeing side too and Valerie has been a regular at the weekly women’s centre, which has had a massive impact on building her confidence.
Steph has got me involved with the women’s centre to help me build my confidence, because I don’t have a lot of confidence to go outside my home.”
