Building communities through investment

Homes are much more than just bricks and mortar. As Willows tenant, Edmund, explains: “A lot of developments don’t cater for communities – they are all a bit single minded.”

Edmund says that in the days of technology and the internet communities are more important than ever. It’s in his blood.

“My dad used to run a community centre, and I run a music festival,” he explains.

The proud Salford lad adds: “Community is so important. Without community, you don’t have anything.”

Before moving into the Willows, Edmund was struggling and paying a lot of rent in a place where he didn’t feel settled.

“To get a home, pretty much where I grew up, is unbelievable.”

The Willows, which opened in October 2017, took just over two years to develop and provides a mixture of one and two-bedroomed homes. It cost over £11 million including around £3 million in funding.

By creating the best environments that focus on people we enable each individual to set their own plan of possibilities and get the most out of life. Moving into The Willows has also had a massive impact on Edmund’s overall physical and mental health.

“My wellbeing has totally changed. I’m in a lot better place.”
