Beware of scams and bogus callers – stay safe in your home

Scams and bogus callers can happen to anyone. You may be contacted by phone, text, email or online, or someone may knock at your door claiming to be someone they’re not in order to gain access to your home.

You should never feel rushed or pressured to let someone into your home or to share personal information. It’s always okay to stop and check. Genuine workers will understand if you want to take a moment to make sure they are who they say they are.

Anyone working for ForHousing or one of our trusted partners will always carry identification and will be happy to show it. They will also understand if you want to call us to check their identity before letting them into your home.

Watch the video below to see examples of how bogus callers may try to gain access, and what to expect when a genuine ForHousing worker visits your home.
