We’re happy to share we have completed work on an £8m energy-efficient development of 51 much-needed affordable homes on Edison Road in Eccles.
The development comprises two four-bedroom houses, seven three-bedroom houses, and 42 apartments.
In response to the nationwide shortage of social housing, we have ensured that 47 of the homes will be available for social rent. The remaining four homes will be offered for shared ownership, a scheme that supports people onto the property ladder offering an opportunity to purchase a share of a property and pay rent on the remainder.
We know what a difference this scheme will make in the local area, making it our priority to tackle the ongoing housing crisis.
The scheme, developed in partnership with Salford City Council, was made possible with £3.1m funding from Homes England and nearly £700,000 from the Greater Manchester Brownfield Fund (GMBF).
The new Edison Road development is the first that we have completed thanks to a contribution from the GMBF.
In addition to the benefit of the new homes, the project has seen the transformation of a previously derelict and unused piece of council land.
The houses were designed by Grays Architecture and built by Mangrove Developments, using an innovative timber panel construction process which is classed as a modern method of construction. They are also fully electric and will not rely on gas.
